Why is it important for children to go to the dentist?

To control the teeth of the little ones from the beginning is important to start preventing certain alterations such as baby bottle caries, problems in the growth of the teeth or other abnormalities of the appearance of the first teeth.

In the longer term, these revisions can also prevent other dental problems. Such as bad position of the teeth, problems in the palate, bruxism, etc

Is it necessary to go to the dentist to remove a baby tooth?

The answer is “it depends.” Most of the time, the final tooth that is forming “behind” the baby tooth to replace it consumes its root, weakening it. As a result, the baby tooth begins to move. In these cases, it is advisable to wait for the tooth to fall out on its own and it is not necessary to go to the dentist.

On the other hand, some times the final tooth is formed in a different position from the baby tooth and this makes it impossible for the root to be consumed. In these cases, the baby tooth does not weaken and therefore it will be necessary to take the child to the dentist to perform the extraction of this.

Tips for brushing the teeth according to age.

  • In the case of babies up to 1 year of age, it is recommended to brush their gums and teeth once a day using a specific silicone thimble for this function or a damp gauze with water.
  • From the age of 2, you can start using toothbrushes with small heads and toothpastes with fluoride (up to 1000 ppm).
  • From the age of 6 children can brush their teeth without help and can use toothpastes that contain more fluoride (up to 1,450ppp)
  • It is important to impose a daily routine on this practice. Children learn by imitation and therefore it is advisable to carry out this routine parents and children together. In this way, the children will get into the habit and learn the technique correctly from their parents.
