FAQs

What is oral medicine?

Oral Medicine is the medical discipline that deals with the study of diseases of the oral cavity, as well as the prevention of oral cancer.

This is a forgotten discipline and hard to find in today’s dental centers.

When should a sore or ulcer worry us?

A sore or ulcer should worry us when it persists for weeks or if it expands over time.

In the same way, we should warn ourselves if we perceive the injuries as harder and harsher than we would expect.

In these cases, we recommend you to come visit us in order to analyze the injury and obtain a diagnosis.

What to do if we have a mouth sore or ulcer?

In most cases, the pain or discomfort of the sores will decrease without the need for treatment until they disappear in about 2 weeks.

In case of intense pain or persistence, we recommend you to come visit us to analyze the injury, prescribe a local sedative and take samples if necessary.

What are the symptoms of oral cancer and how to detect it?

Among the most common signs and symptoms of oral cancer are:

  • Sores on the lips or mouth that does not heal.
  • White or reddish lesion on the inside of the mouth.
  • Growth of a lump in the mouth.
  • Difficulty or pain in swallowing.
  • Mouth or ear pain.

All these symptoms are very unspecific and it is therefore difficult to attribute them to a particular disease. In case of suspicion, we will take a sample of the lesion in order to be analyzed by a laboratory.

It is important to see a dentist who specializes in oral medicine regularly so that we can detect the disease as soon as possible.

I had a first visit and they checked my whole mouth like they had never done before. I’ve been there for a while, they’ve done x-rays and checked my mucous membranes. Highly recommended!

Marc

I went there for an aesthetic issue but they were more concerned about some injuries I had had for a long time. They didn’t bother me much and I hadn’t given them importance. After studying the case they were able to rule out nothing serious! Thank you for the involvement of the whole team!

Rubén

I went to visit after noticing a small lump in my gums. They took a sample to send to the lab and a few hours later I already knew what it was. Thanks for the speed! 🙂 🙂
