FAQs

What is the preventive dentistry?

Preventive dentistry is a specialty within dentistry that treats healthy mouths in order to prevent the appearance of future diseases or malformations. We achieve this through thorough periodic follow-up visits, oral hygiene, sealing of cavities and fissures and a long etc.

How often should oral hygiene be done?

Despite having a strict oral hygiene routine and applying a good technique, the plaque gradually accumulate in the teeth.

In order to eliminate this calculus or bacterial plaque and thus avoid further problems, it is necessary to go to the dentist at least every 12 months to perform an in-depth oral hygiene.

As always, each patient is different, and therefore the frequency must be adjusted according to the particular needs of the person. Performing this activity frequently is especially important in patients suffering from periodontal diseases such as gingivitis or periodontitis.

What is the difference between oral hygiene and curettage?

An oral hygiene or tartrectomy seeks to remove the calculus and the bacterial plaque located in the visible area of the tooth, that is, above the gum. With this practice, it is possible to eliminate calculus, calcified plaque, stains of extrinsic origin such as coffee, etc.

Instead, a curettage goes a step further and seeks to remove the bacterial plaque located under the gum. This treatment is indicated in patients with inflammation of the gums due to periodontal disease or gingivitis.

How often should I go to the dentist?

The general recommendation is to go to the dentist at least once a year so that you can keep track of your oral health.

As always, each case is particular and the professional will determine the frequency required for each patient.

Why is it important to be visited repeatedly by a dentist?

Our mouth and teeth are constantly evolving and therefore changing. It is important to track this evolution correctly and recurrently in order to be able to detect any diseases or anomalies that may arise at an early stage. In this way we can fix the situation by applying less invasive treatments for our body and, in most cases, also cheaper.

I had a first visit and they checked my whole mouth like they had never done before. I’ve been there for a while, they’ve done x-rays and checked my mucous membranes. Highly recommended!
